Get the entire family outdoors and witness the changing seasons unfold. There is always something new to observe and appreciate in nature. A Lake County Parks naturalist will lead you through the trails of the nature preserve and point out its fascinating flora and fauna. We can’t think of a better way to learn about the natural and cultural history of our area while enjoying time outdoors.

Fall is a great time to see a variety of migrating bird species including thrushes, warblers, sparrows and vireos as they head to their winter homes.  Walk with a park naturalist to see who is visiting the Woods.

Gibson Woods is home to 23 documented species of dragonflies, as well as many butterflies. This year’s hikes will include a focus on butterflies as we walk each Tuesday to find out who is flitting about.
