Butterflies come in all sorts of sizes and colors, but monarchs are probably the most recognizable. Explore their life cycle and the magical lives they live. Pre-registration required; please call 219-844-3188.

nature’s bouquet hike

Every other Tuesday, September 10 & 24

More than 300 species of native plants are found at Gibson Woods, including a variety of rare and unique species. Join a park naturalist for a walk through the preserve to learn more about our native flora. Comfortable shoes and insect repellent are recommended.

Join us for a bat-tastic evening as we invite presenters from Incredible Bats to fly us into Batweek to learn about these winged wonders’ lives and challenges, as well as introduce us to live live fruit bats. Tree Decorating Naturally

Join us for a winter as we get our holiday tree decorated with natural ornaments. There will be a variety of craft and nature items for ornaments. Make one for nature center tree and then make one to take home. You can bring natural materials to share, too.  Pre-registration recommended, please call 219-844-3188.

This day only comes around every 4 years, so why not celebrate? Stop by to learn about Leap Day and some other of nature’s leapers. And stop by in the evening for a hike as we close out this special day.
